20 km of walking in a day through London
In one day I travelled around London and made it to a tonne of places, but here are my favourite highlights in a page:
- Whitechapel: the infamous location of Jack the Ripper‘s Whitechapel murders
- Embarkment: See the The London Eye, great nightclubs and a Wine Bar (name unknown)
- Piccadilly Circus: great shopping, great food, and so many tourists with bad fashion that it will make your head spin!
- Notting Hill Gate: if you have seen the movie Notting Hill with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, you will have seen the beauty of this neighbourhood.
- Harrods Department Store: need I say more? Wait… yes! Go to the Georgian Restaurant with the terrace patio, it is darling. Order the chocolate dessert trio and the Harrod’s Signature Bordeaux White Wine. Yummy!
- Covent Gardens: You will find the Royal Opera House and many other fun amusing things
- Cromwell/Knightsbridge Street – Be sure to check out the Natural History Museum and the Museum of Victoria & Albert (the V&A Museum has a great collection of art and design). Both of these are completely FREE! Oh and the V&A Museum has a Diaghilev Exhibit!!!
I am highly impressed with the efficiency of the Tube lines (the Underground Subway system), as it is not only speedy and relatively clean, it takes me everywhere I would like to go! It was amusing the other night though, as I was riding back on the Tube at around midnight, there was a troupe of high school students with their teacher, and they were coming back from a show. The poor highschool teacher had to deal with a student that was sick from too much drinking, the female students that were having a perfume spraying contest or something of that sort, and the loud boisterous drunk Irishmen pub hopping. I have to say, it was extremely amusing the entire ride home, and I do have to say that I am glad to now be away from all of the clouds of perfume spray. I don’t think I can ever smell Valentino perfume again without thinking of the Tube.
Next up to visit is:
- 221B Baker Street – the residence of the one and only Sherlock Holmes
- I am going to go ride on the London Eye and see all of London via this giant wheel

Cheers,
Deanna
