It’s Official: WWDC 2011 Is sold out! *in 10 hours*
Categories: Apple, Geek, Tech/Gaming
I have been talking in my previous post about how the Apple WWDC might sell out quickly, but I never imagined it selling out in less than 10 hours. OMG! Wow!
So for everyone out there considering buying your tickets to the WWDC 2011, sorry to say, they are sold out!
Wow! I really didn’t expect it to happen that quickly. Now consider this: 5000 tickets were sold in less than 10 hours, and at a lovely rate of $1599 USD a ticket. With that said, Apple is making approximately 8,000,000 dollars from these tickets! Yes, you heard me, EIGHT million American dollars. Yes, while the US dollar hasn’t been rockin’ lately, I have to say that $8M USD is still is a pretty penny. At least they aren’t selling *too* many seats to the event, and making it a complete debacle of profit-making. The Moscone Centre could totally hold *waaaay* more than that, so at least they aren’t be irresponsible. Nonetheless, that is still a heck of a lot of money from a single event. It is still likely costing Apple way more to host the event (Moscone is expensive! and attendee expectations are über high), yet I have to say, well done on recouping your expenses Apple!
So with that said, I’ll be in San Francisco from June 5 onwards, and if you see me out there, say hello! I hope you were able to get your ticket to WWDC (if you were wanting to shill out $1599 for it, an not just wait for the news afterwards).
Cheers,
Deanna
Wow! That’s amazing. Consumers aren’t playing around when it comes to discovering what Apples has up it’s sleeve next. I’ll have to be quicker the next time.
